Summer Gateway Program
The deadline to sign up for Summer Gateway has passed.
If you choose the Summer Gateway Program, you may take advantage of established partnerships between Texas Tech University and its community college partners. Completion of six transferable hours with at least a 2.5 GPA during the first summer session guarantees admission to Texas Tech for the following fall. You may select from the list of approved courses in the chart below.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS.
- Satisfy Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements.
For additional information about TSI requirements, visit TSI Compliance. - Complete six hours of transferable coursework from the approved list with a minimum 2.5 GPA on that coursework during the first summer session at any partner college.
For students choosing to attend the Summer Gateway Program at South Plains College-Reese Campus:
- You may choose to live on the Texas Tech campus.
- You will pay the following Texas Tech fees and have access to the associated services:
- ID Maintenance Fee
- Student Recreation Fee
- Student Services Fee
- Student Transportation Fee
- Student Union Fee
- Information Technology Fee
- Library Fee
Summer Gateway Participants. Your high school graduation may be after summer classes begin at the partner community college you have selected for the Gateway Program. You must still enroll in the first session of summer school. Administrators at our partner community colleges will be notified of the possible overlap of classes with high school graduations. However, if you are questioned when applying to your selected community college, please direct the questions to the Texas Tech Office of Admissions, 806.742.1480. DEADLINE INFORMATION. The deadline to designate participation in the Summer Gateway Program was May 19, 2008. The Texas Tech Office of Admissions must receive official college transcripts by July 21, 2008.
- It is your responsibility to insure that the transcript is sent to Texas Tech. Transcripts will not be accepted after July 21, 2008. It is highly recommended that you make certain that there are no holds on your records at the partner college prior to having your transcript sent to Texas Tech.
- If you meet the requirements of the program, you will be notified via email that you have been admitted and will be required to attend New Student Orientation at Texas Tech University.
- If you do not meet the requirements of the program, we encourage you to continue taking courses at a community college partner and reapply to Texas Tech for a future semester after meeting the transfer requirements.
PROGRAM BENEFITS.
- You will not be required to re-apply to the university for the fall 2008 semester.
- You receive an extended deadline (July 21, 2008) to have the official transcript in to the admissions office for consideration for the fall 2008 semester.
- You can apply for housing for the fall 2008 semester in advance. Once you have signed up for the Summer Gateway Program, you will receive instructions on how to set up your eRaider account. After your eRaider account has been set up, you can apply for housing at www.housing.ttu.edu.
Note: There will be no exceptions to the requirements of the program.
